DiSanto, Priest & Co. is proud to recognize April M. Arruda, CPA, MPAc - Manager, Audit Department, for attending the 2022 American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Leadership Academy in October.

“The selection process is extremely competitive as there are limited spots each year, so we are very proud of April for being selected,” said Mike Mellor, Partner of DiSanto, Priest & Co. “Her work accomplishments, leadership with the RIYAN Committee and strong contributions to the DiSanto Priest Charitable Foundation put her in a position to earn this opportunity.”

Further highlighting April’s accomplishment, DiSanto, Priest & Co. recognizes that they now have three graduates from this prestigious and highly-selective program. “There are no other firms of our size in the region that can boast that, and it is a real testament to the firm and its dedication to its people and the future.” said Garrett Stenhouse, Principal, Audit Department.

“The AICPA Leadership Academy takes a deep dive in self-examination of leadership qualities and values. I was expecting to learn about leadership strategies, but I didn’t realize how much I would learn about myself,” said April Arruda. “The Leadership Academy was a terrific experience to learn about leading with integrity and to make lasting connections.” April spent four days in this intensive program in Durham, North Carolina. During this time, April made note of three key takeaways for developing impactful leadership: begin conversations by setting intentions, make your thinking visible, and that to get people to buy in, people must weigh in.

April received her undergraduate degree from Bryant University, and later returned to earn a Master’s in Professional Accountancy. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Chair of the Rhode Island Young Accountants Networks (RIYAN), and serves as a Director for the DiSanto Priest Charitable Foundation.
