Briggs & Veselka Co., a leading audit, tax, and consulting services firm, announced that Claudio Diaz has joined the firm as its first Chief People Officer. In the role, Diaz will oversee the cultural refreshment, leadership development, HR operations, and workplace planning of one of the fastest growing CPA firms in Texas.

“Briggs & Veselka has grown significantly over the past few years through a combination of various growth strategies, including hiring and retaining the very best associates who have been, and will continue to be, the most critical aspect of our future success. Claudio brings a deep understanding of how to balance the technical aspects of running a proactive human resources operation with the ‘high touch’ needed in our relationships that matter most,” said Managing Shareholder Sheila Enriquez.

Diaz spent 17 years in the Walt Disney Company in diverse roles, including coaching external executives at the Disney Institute. More recently, he served in HR leadership roles at two top-twenty accounting firms.

“After learning about and personally experiencing the incredible culture that Briggs & Veselka has created and fostered for nearly 50 years, I am honored to continue developing the firm’s associates in preparation for the evolution occurring in the industry,” said Diaz. “The disruptive forces of a changing workforce will challenge how work is done and value is created for clients in the next five years. Our associates will be personally and professionally prepared to navigate through those impending changes as they ensure our clients’ success,” Diaz added.

The firm experienced a 20% revenue growth in its last fiscal year, and now has more than 300 professionals serving primarily middle-market clients in Houston, The Woodlands, Austin, San Antonio, and El Campo. In 2019, the firm was listed on the top 100 CPA firm list from Accounting Today magazine, and has been on the Best Places to Work list for the past 11 years.
