Briggs & Veselka Co. (Houston) Promotes Principals and Directors in Its Audit, Tax, and Consulting Practices

Briggs & Veselka Co. has announced the promotion of a number of its professionals to new leadership roles.

In the firm’s audit department, Bryan Abee, Calvin Upton, and Kim Huynh have been promoted to Principal effective January 1. The firm’s consulting practice is also announcing the promotion of Kevin Stewart to Principal. Stewart is also being announced as the firm’s new leader of the Client Accounting Services practice, which will provide AP, AR, and payroll services, plus controllership and CFO services, to middle-market clients. 

The Pathway Forensics subsidiary of the firm has promoted Rick Garcia to Principal from his recent role as Director of Forensics. Rick has more than 9 years of Digital Forensics experience, has expert witness testimony experience, and holds two Forensic certifications. He was previously with BDO, Conoco Phillips, and Ricoh Legal.

The firm’s Audit department is also announcing the transition of Joe Alcorta and Kevin Hengst to Director positions, effective the first of the year. Halen Phan in the firm’s Pathway Forensics subsidiary has been named Director of Forensics and Operations.

In its last fiscal year, Briggs & Veselka grew by 20%, with both organic growth and several acquisitions. Briggs & Veselka is also the largest locally owned CPA firm in Houston.
